As the media relentlessly portray immigrants as damaging to the UK, I am using the visual language of documentary photography to depict the complex circumstances that immigrants face. Although most of them often feel displaced, discriminated against, or unwanted, they are trying to establish a home in their newly adopted country of residence. Welcome Home celebrates the diversity of humanity, their lives, families, dreams and worries. This project aims at questioning people’s opinions about racism and the judgement of the foreign born while conveying the message about the positive impact of immigration working in the UK.
